As you know, resins secreted from trees or plants come of different types. Medical experts have discovered that this thick and sticky substance secreted from plants has no use for the plant itself. Thus the reason why this phenomenon takes place is still unknown to the world. But from the time this substance was known to man, it has been manipulated for many useful purposes. Apart from being used in paints, resins have its purpose in medicines too as a bulk chemical supplied to Africa by chemical traders in Dubai.
After resin from the bark of the Boswellia tree was found in India, the following study was conducted by the Arthritis Foundation:-
In a 2004 study, Indian frankincense was tested as a treatment for knee OA. Researchers recruited 30 people with knee OA and gave half the group a daily supplement containing 333 mg of Indian frankincense; others got placebo. People who took Indian frankincense reported less knee pain, better mobility and an ability to walk longer distances than those taking placebo.(Source: www.arthritistoday.org)
